The Holy Spirit and the Wind (a.k.a. the "Cool Breeze")
"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit." (Christ Jesus - John 3:8)

Come, O Spirit, with Your sound
Like a wind, quick rushing;
Come from heaven and stir our hearts,
Each disciple touching!
Mold our actions to Your will,
You our service giving;
Move within our fellowship,
Transform now our living!
Come, O Spirit, with Your flame,
Leaping tongues of fire;
Come, and with Your glorious light
All our thoughts inspire!
Rest upon each servant's head
Till each one is speaking
Of our Christ, the Holy One
All the earth is seeking.
Come, O Spirit, fill Your church,
Making strong our mission;
Fill Your daughters and your sons
With a mighty vision,
Till the great and glorious day
When the whole creation
Sings Your praise as Lord and King,
Giver of salvation!

If a wind originates from the north, it will always blow towards the south. If
it originates from the northeast, it will always blow towards the southwest. It
always blows in the opposite direction, from which it comes. When Christ Jesus
was describing the wind in the scripture below, He was not describing any
ordinary wind, but He was describing the Wind (a.k.a. "the Cool Breeze") of the
Holy Spirit:
"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know
where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the
Spirit." (Christ Jesus - John 3:8)
He was talking about the Wind or Cool Breeze, which emits from everyone who is
born of the Spirit! This is the same Wind that the disciples of Christ Jesus
experienced on the day of Pentecost too:
"And when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it
filled the whole house where they were sitting." (Acts 2:1-2)
The Wind of the Holy Spirit usually comes suddenly and unexpectedly and is an
active force. A Sahaja Yogi ("born of the Spirit person") can be meditating,
when a localised (meaning that it is not coming from any direction and is only
in the immediate vicinity of where the person is in meditation) arises and
swirls within and around them. It touches them. The person feels this amazing
love from this Wind. Where does this Wind come from? According to Jesus, it
comes from the person who is "born of the Spirit":
"The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know
where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the
Spirit." (Christ Jesus - John 3:8)
Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi says that the cool breeze of the Holy Ghost of
Pentecost, is the same power that you can feel in Sahaja Yoga [in Union with the
Divine Within]:
"The cool breeze of the Holy Ghost of Pentecost is this power that you can feel
in Sahaja Yoga [in Union with the Divine Within]. In the Gospel of St. Thomas,
it very clearly describes the Sahaja experience as the ultimate of our religious
life. Also it says we must look after our centres. This Kundalini [coiled energy
or power of the Holy Ghost] has to ascend and pierce through six subtle centres
which are placed in the spinal cord and in the brain. The last breakthrough is
the actualisation of the "Baptism" as one feels the cool breeze of the Holy
Ghost emitting out of one's fontanel bone area." (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi —
first small English Book)
According to Shri Mataji, this Pentecostal experience is a Living Process, which
was also described in the Indian scriptures, in Ancient Times:
"This living process is very clearly described in Indian scriptures since
ancient times. There are 108 Upanishadas in the Sanskrit language which have
exposed the knowledge about Kundalini awakening and the spiritual ascent. Also
it is indicated in other scriptures of other countries. In the Bible it is
called the tree of life and it is quoted that, "I will appear before you like
tongues of flames". When the Kundalini rises, She passes through various centres
which look like tongues of flames when enlightened." (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi —
first small English book)
The Pentecostal experience, is the union with the all-pervading power of Divine
love. Shri Mataji explains that this is what Sahaja Yoga really means:
"Saha" means "with", "Ja" means "born", "Yoga" means union with the
all-pervading power of Divine love. (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi—first small
English Book)
Shri Mataji further explains that Sahaja Yoga (Union with the power of Divine
love) is not a dead religious organisation but a single collective living
organism:
"There is no dead organisation, but a living collective single organism. The
body has the cells. After self-realisation [Baptism of the Holy Spirit] the
spirits of the cells are enlightened by Sahaja Yoga. The seeker's being had to
actually be sprouted by Kundalini awakening. Then, becoming [the Spirit] is
important. When the Kundalini rises, one can easily feel the cool breeze [or
wind] coming out of one's fontanel bone area on top of one's head. One can feel
it oneself and one has to certify oneself. One can also feel this cool breeze
around oneself. This cool breeze is the one that is manifested by the
all-pervading power of Divine Love. For the first [time] in [one's] life, one
actualises the experience of feeling this subtle Divine power. Even after
feeling this power, one has to understand that this Kundalini is not yet fully
established. In ordinary mechanical language, we can say that the connection is
not established. One has to work it out. Though sprouting the seed is
spontaneous, the gardener now has to look after the tender sapling. In the same
way a seeker has to look after his self-realisation (his Baptism of the Holy
Spirit) in the beginning. Some people achieve heights very easily, but some have
to work for six or seven months and are still not all right. (Shri Mataji
Nirmala Devi—first small English book)
Shri Mataji explains that when the Baptism of the Holy Spirit (Self-Realisation)
is not working out for the person, even after six or seven months, that She has
given the knowledge of how to determine where the problem lies:
"Under these circumstances [when a person has to work six or seven months and is
still not all right] it is important that one must know and understand where the
problem is, by understanding the proper decoding system and its practices in
Sahaja Yoga." (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi—first small English book)
So what really is the Baptism of the Holy Spirit all about? What is the Cool
Breeze of the Holy Ghost really all about?
Shri Mataji calls it "Self"-realisation.
She also calls it "Self"-knowledge.
In fact, She says that they are the same thing:
"Self-realization is self-knowledge, and the one who gives you self-knowledge is
your own Kundalini [your own power of the Holy Ghost] because when She rises,
She points out the problems on your chakras [on your psychosomatic energy
centres]." (Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi—Germany—11 August 1991)
Shri Mataji explains about the intelligent living energy of the Holy Ghost
(Kundalini Mother):
"The Kundalini energy is absolutely the Pure Light of knowledge, love compassion
and attention. It is the living energy, which knows how to handle Itself and
think. It is like the tip of a sprouting seed that knows how to go around all
the soft places, to encircle the stones, then find its way to the source. But
within you is a tremendous force of Kundalini' a storehouse of love, compassion
and knowledge and an Ocean of forgiveness, which can be enlightened by the
Spirit. When people get realization, they do not understand that they have to
now grow, and the reason they don't grow is they do not ask for these energies,
[in order] to be more compassionate, more loving, more generous, and not to
exploit others. But if you do not want to be growing in your awareness then She
[the Holy Ghost or Kundalini other Within] says: "All right. He's a half-baked
Sahaja Yogi. Let it be." [Under those circumstances] She doesn't supply that
energy which is stored within you. Mundane desires, such as asking for a job or
for cures for relatives, are impure because they are not satiable. This
Kundalini that is your Mother is there to supply you, nourish you, look after
you and to make you grow, by giving you a higher personality, wider personality
and deeper personality. But our ideas about people who have higher personalities
are wrong [ideas]. People are higher [personalities] because they are
spiritually evolved. Otherwise, they are not [higher personalities]." (Shri
Mataji Nirmala Devi—Germany—11 August 1991)
Now the Lord is the [Holy] Spirit and where the Spirit of the Lord is [awakened
within] there is liberty. (2 Corinthians 3:17)
